Griffin + Carly | Belle Meade Plantation

Belle Meade Plantation Wedding- Nashville, TN

This gorgeous Belle Meade Plantation Wedding was one of my favorites to photograph this year. It was a gorgeous day in Nashville and two amazing people joined their lives to become one. Every detail was perfect and everything went perfectly.

What makes this wedding even more beautiful is the couple. Griffin and Carly have been together for five years and have endured more in that time than most couples do in a lifetime. Carly has a disease that can be debilitating at times. And Griffin has always been there for her, every step of the way. He took her to countless doctor appointments, took care of her when she was really sick and they even joke that he washed her hair when she couldn’t. Then he was in an accident and broke his neck and she took care of him the same way. They have been through so much together and their wedding was a celebration of their love and journey in life together.

This colorful southern wedding is full of so many beautiful details and showered with gorgeous flowers. All of the details were meticulously chosen to represent the bride’s style, which she described as classic, chic with a touch of J Crew. I think when you look through the full gallery, you can see that they nailed this style and design.

Karb Family | Nashville Maternity and Family Session

This wonderful maternity and family session of the Karb Family may be one of the most emotional sessions I have done and or written about. I am tearing up as I write this, because it is hard for me to know the right words to say.

I met Erin a couple years ago while my daughter was doing Speech Therapy (story for another day). She was her Feeding Therapist at the time and was just a wonderful resource for our family. We became facebook friends and have stayed virtual friends since then, commenting and liking each other’s posts about raising little kids and such. Erin is 30 years old and is married to a wonderful man, has two beautiful children and is currently pregnant with her third child. Her story is very similar to mine, minus the third kid.

She recently shared on Facebook that made me stop in my tracks. She stated that she had just found out that she had breast cancer. I absolutely couldn’t believe what I had read and thought that I must have been looking at someone else’s page. I thought this can’t be, she is too young. I am too young. I was in total disbelief! She shared a link to a blog post that explained everything. I wanted to reach out to Erin, not knowing what I could say or do that would help her in anyway. I am not great with words and don’t know what comfort I could possibly provide for someone in her situation. I tried thinking about what I would want and appreciate. So I reached out to her and offered her the only thing I could give… pictures. We did a family session at the park right next to her house, that they frequently visit. It was laid back, fun and a great distraction of everything.

I share all of this because I truly believe in the power of pictures. They stop time, show love and connection between people. I hope that these images can be healing for Erin and her family. I hope that in her dark times, she has something to look at so she can see how much love she has within her sweet family.

I spoke to Erin after the session and had a real and honest conversation about her diagnosis and what is was like and continues to feel like. She has a great outlook on everything and is trying to focus on the positive. She is such a strong woman and is enduring more than I could ever imagine. I truly hope the best for her and her family!

Jason + Kristin | Columbia, TN Wedding

Here is the intimate and elegant wedding of Jason and Kristin. These two are such a wonderful and sweet couple. They had a morning ceremony followed by a delicious brunch, mimosas and donuts! I especially loved that they opted for donuts in lieu of a traditional wedding cake. Five Daughters Bakery is one of my favorite restaurants and they definitely did not disappoint!

They had an indoor ceremony, but it was so important to them to have all their portraits made outside. Luckily, there was a gorgeous garden a block away at the historical home of James K. Polk. It was the perfect location for portraits and their first look! I am a sucker for pretty florals, silk ribbon and lace. All of which were elements of Kristin’s vision for her elegant wedding day and Flower Girl Floral Design executed perfectly. These details combined with the pops of deep burgundy made for a gorgeous wedding.

Matt + Kaitlin | Atlanta Engagement Session

Matt and Kaitlin had a wonderful Atlanta engagement session! I’m a huge advocate of choosing locations that are not only pretty but also meaningful to my clients. Matt and Kaitlin live near and frequent this beautiful greenway close to their home. It was the perfect spot for this gorgeous summer engagement session!

I always send my couples an engagement questionnaire. It helps me get to know them better and also help decide what type of engagement session would work best for them. Here are a few of the questions and answers they shared with me!

Please share your story, how did you meet?

Matt and I met 5 years ago in an elevator at our office building and became quick friends. We realized we both went to the University of Georgia and had a lot of mutual friends. Then one day Matt asked me to go to a concert with him and some co-workers, I thought it was just a friendly hang out, but then he asked me to dinner ahead of time and paid! At that point, I knew he was interested in more than just being friends! And we’ve been dating ever since!

How long have you been together?

5 years

Tell me a little about yourselves! What are your hobbies, favorite things to do as a couple? What is your ideal date night?

We love to go out and try new restaurants, go to concerts, comedy shows, grill out, and go hiking or camping with friends. We love to travel and have visited the following locations together: Ireland, Prague, Canada, Iceland, Kiawah Island, Denver, Pawley’s Island, Edisto Island, Charleston, Nashville, and Chicago. We also enjoy nights where we just cook in and watch a movie together. We’ve taken a sushi making class and have made it a tradition to cook sushi at the house every Valentine’s day. As for our ideal date night, my favorite are those relaxing nights in when Matt grills us amazing steak and I’ll cook sides and have a nice bottle of wine with a movie.

Alex + Bailey// Belle Meade Plantation Wedding

Alex and Bailey had a beautiful and romantic Belle Meade Plantation wedding. All week and even on the morning of, the weather was supposed to be a complete wash out. But somehow, it didn’t rain a drop and we even had moments of sun peeping through the clouds. It was truly a perfect wedding day!

Every detail of the day was just beautiful, from the color of the bridemaid’s dresses and the guy’s suits to the simple and elegant décor for the reception. Knestrick By Design did an amazing job with all of the florals and the altar arrangement at the ceremony was stunning. Beyond Details did a wonderful job of pulling together and helping make Bailey’s dream wedding come true.

When I look at Alex and Bailey, I see me and my husband when were getting married. From our first meeting to the engagement session to emails in between and then to the wedding, they have been such a dream to work with. Alex and Bailey have become one of my favorite couples that I have ever worked with. Enough so that I cried multiple times during their wedding and even after, going through all their images. They are truly two amazing people and such an adorable couple and I am so honored to have been a part of their story.
